How our weight management clinic works
Getting started is straightforward. Here's what to expect from your very first contact with us through to ongoing support.
01.
Initial consultation
Book your consultation at mccoubreypharmacy.co.uk or by calling us on 028 9039 1169. We'll take a full health and lifestyle history to understand your goals and any relevant medical background.
02.
Personalised assessment
We carry out relevant health checks, including BMI and blood pressure, to build a clear picture of where you are and what your options are.
03.
A plan built around you
Based on your assessment, we'll put together a tailored programme. This may include lifestyle guidance, dietary support, and — where clinically appropriate — a discussion about prescription treatment options.
04.
Ongoing support
Weight management is a journey, not a single appointment. We provide regular check-ins, progress reviews, and practical advice to keep you on track — with our team available throughout.
Weight loss injections: what you need to know
In recent years, prescription injectable treatments have become an important tool in the clinical management of obesity. At McCoubrey Chemist, we can support patients who have been assessed as clinically suitable and provide guidance on accessing these treatments through the appropriate healthcare pathway.
Semaglutide
GLP-1 receptor agonist e.g.Wegovy®
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that works by regulating appetite and supporting blood sugar balance. It has been studied extensively in clinical trials and is licensed in the UK for weight management in appropriate patients, alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
Prescription-only. Suitability is determined through clinical assessment. Not appropriate for everyone — eligibility criteria apply.
Tirzepatide GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist e.g. Mounjaro®
Tirzepatide acts on two hormonal pathways involved in appetite and metabolism. It is a prescription-only treatment licenced in the UK for weight management in adults with obesity or overweight, alongside lifestyle modifications. Our pharmacist will discuss whether this may be appropriate during your consultation.
Prescription-only. Suitability is determined through clinical assessment. Not appropriate for everyone — eligibility criteria apply.
